Pawla Kuczynskiego is a brilliant painter and his picture are the result of a great conceptual, visual and deep study. In this short article I want to present my personal interpretation of his work, without the claim of exhaustiveness.
The Kuczynskiego’s art is divided in two ideal parts: realism and abstract art. The conjunction of the two aims joint in a paradoxical perspective in which we can feel and see the realization of an ideal. The paradoxes emerge from the selection of the themes, which are prevalent political issues. Most of his pictures show facts in an extreme realistic way, but the representation of facts is not the ultimate goal of the paint, but it is only the starting point of a deep comprehension of a paradox in our social reality. I feel a pervasive tension between the brutal facts shown and the basic abstract idea inside the representation. For example, one of Kuczynskiego’s masterpiece shows some pets (horse, cow, donkey, chickens, lamb…) in a farm, which are near to a bloody dirty butcher, who is petting his cat. In this masterpiece is clear the abstract idea of the paint: the man sacrifices many animals for only one.
